Lagu Chitra

A private photo collage maker. Pick 2–25 photos, start from a layout that already fits them, and export at full resolution — with no account, no upload, and no watermark.

Getting started

Lagu Chitra turns a handful of photos into a finished collage in three steps: choose, arrange, share. There is no sign-in and no setup — open the app and start.

1Open Lagu Chitra.
2Tap Choose 2–25 photos.
3Select your photos in the system photo picker.
4Adjust the layout, then tap Preview & export.

The app works entirely offline. The Android release does not request the Internet permission, so it behaves exactly the same in aeroplane mode.

Choosing photos

Photo selection uses your device's system photo picker, so Lagu Chitra only ever receives the specific photos you tap. It never asks for access to your whole photo library.

Pick between 2 and 25 photos for a single collage.
Portrait, landscape, and square photos can be mixed freely.
The order you pick them in becomes the starting order in the collage.

If a photo lives in the cloud, your photo provider may need to download it before the app can use it. That download is handled by the photo picker, not by Lagu Chitra.

The editor

The Create collage screen shows a live canvas at the top and four tabs of controls below it:

Layout — suggested layouts and arrangement priorities.
Frame — canvas ratio and how photos are framed inside their slots.
Style — background colour and spacing between photos.
Photos — the photos currently in the collage.

The canvas is live: every change you make in a tab is reflected immediately, and what you see is what gets exported. A status line above the export button summarises the current collage — photo count, canvas ratio, and framing mode.

Layouts

Lagu Chitra suggests layouts based on how many photos you picked, so the options you see always fit your selection. Available styles include:

Balanced grid — even cells, equal weight for every photo.
Six grid — a compact grid for larger selections.
Feature — one large photo with the rest alongside it.
Feature story — a hero photo above a run of supporting photos.
Free-form — looser, less uniform arrangements.

Tap a layout to apply it instantly. Use Shuffle to reshuffle which photo lands in which slot without changing the layout itself.

Not sure which to use? Tap through the suggestions — the canvas updates immediately, and Undo brings back whatever you had before.

Arrangement

Arrangement tells the layout what to prioritise when it places your photos:

Best — balance shapes, so portrait and landscape photos sit well together.
Equal — treat every photo with the same importance.
Hero — feature the first photo prominently.
Story — keep the exact order you selected.

Arrangement and layout work together: pick the layout for the overall shape, and the arrangement for which photo gets the most room.

Canvas & framing

The Frame tab controls the shape of the finished image and how photos sit inside their slots.

Canvas ratios

Square — for feeds and profile posts.
Portrait — taller than wide.
Story — full-height vertical, for stories and status posts.
A4 — print-friendly proportions.
Wallpaper — sized for a phone home screen.

Framing modes

Smart fit — fills each slot cleanly, cropping where needed.
No crop — keeps every photo whole, even if that leaves space around it.
Edge to edge — photos run right to the canvas border with no outer margin.

Choose No crop when faces or text sit near the edge of a photo and you do not want them trimmed.

Adjusting photos

Work directly on the canvas — no menus needed:

Press and hold a photo, then drag it onto another to swap the two.
Drag inside a slot to reposition the photo within its frame.
Pinch to zoom the photo inside its slot.
Double-tap to reset that photo back to its default position and zoom.

Repositioning and zooming change only how the photo appears inside the collage. Your original photo file is never modified.

Style & spacing

Open the Style tab to change how the collage is presented:

Background colour — the colour visible in gaps and around photos.
Spacing — how much room sits between photos and at the canvas edge.

Spacing has a strong effect on the finished look: tight spacing reads as a single block, while generous spacing gives each photo its own frame.

Undo & redo

Undo and Redo sit at the top of the editor and cover every step — layout changes, swaps, zooms, spacing, and background. Experiment freely; nothing you try is permanent until you export.

Drafts & autosave

Your work autosaves as you edit — a Saved indicator appears in the editor. If you leave the app, take a call, or the app is closed by the system, the collage is still there when you return.

The home screen shows an Autosaved draft card with two choices:

Resume draft — reopen the collage exactly as you left it.
Start fresh — discard the draft and choose new photos.

There is one draft at a time. Starting a new collage replaces the saved draft, so export anything you want to keep before you start fresh.

Preview & export

Tap Preview & export to open the export screen. The preview at the top is the final image: the crop and framing you see are exactly what gets written to the file, with no watermark added at any size.

From here you can:

Create the image at your chosen size and file type.
Save it straight to Photos.
Share it through the apps already on your device.
Go back and keep editing.
Start a new collage.

Output size & file type

The output size is the longest edge of the finished image. Three sizes are offered:

Social — around 1080 px, fast to share.
HD — around 2048 px, a good default for most collages.
Maximum — up to 4096 px on the longest edge.

The exact pixel dimensions shown depend on your canvas ratio. If a device does not have the memory headroom for the largest size, that option is dimmed and the app recommends HD instead.

PNG or JPEG

PNG — lossless quality, larger file.
JPEG — smaller file with slight compression, better for sharing.

Source quality check

Before you export, Lagu Chitra compares your chosen output size against the actual resolution of every source photo and reports what it finds — for example Excellent clarity when every photo has enough detail for that size. You can open the list to review each source individually.

If the check warns you, a photo has fewer pixels than the output size needs. Exporting anyway will upscale it and it may look soft. Pick a smaller output size or replace that photo.

Once the image is created, Save to Photos writes it to your photo library, and the share button opens your device's share sheet.

Lagu Chitra asks for add-only photo-library permission the first time you save — it can add the finished collage to your library, but it cannot read or change what is already there. Sharing happens only when you tap share; nothing is sent anywhere on its own.

Saved and shared images belong to you. Lagu Chitra never deletes them — it only cleans up its own temporary files after the export screen closes.

Themes

Light and dark themes are both fully supported. By default the app follows your device theme; you can pick a specific theme in Settings instead.

The theme affects only the app interface. Your collage and its background colour export identically in either theme.

Privacy

No account, no sign-in, and no cloud service.
No analytics, advertising, tracking, or remote crash reporting.
The Android production app does not request the Internet permission.
Only the photos you pick in the system photo picker are visible to the app.
Drafts and working copies stay in the app’s private storage on your device.
No watermark, no in-app purchases, and no subscription.

Troubleshooting

A photo will not load

Cloud-hosted photos are downloaded by your photo provider before the app can use them. If one fails, reopen the picker and select it again once the download has finished.

The Maximum output size is dimmed

Your device does not have enough memory headroom for a 4096 px export with this many photos. Use HD, or build the collage with fewer photos.

The exported image looks soft

Check the source quality check on the export screen. A low-resolution source photo cannot gain detail by being exported larger — export at a smaller size instead.

My draft disappeared

Starting a new collage or choosing Start fresh replaces the saved draft. Uninstalling the app removes drafts entirely; images you already saved to Photos are unaffected.
